The Wallpaper Museum is located in Rixheim in Alsace, in the historic building of La Commanderie. It is dedicated to the history and techniques of wallpaper as a decorative art, from the 18th century to contemporary creations. The museum's collections trace the evolution of artistic styles through domino papers, period manufactured productions, and creations by modern designers. Wallpaper is presented here as a historical and sociological marker, revealing the tastes, commercial strategies, and social positioning of its successive inhabitants. The museum also offers temporary exhibitions, including panoramic ones. A partial reopening is planned for July 2026, following a project to reorganize the collections.
