The Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Strasbourg, opened in 1998, is housed in a bright building located on the banks of the Ill River, near the train station. It offers an overview of artistic creation from 1870 to the present day, with works by painters, sculptors, engravers, photographers and video artists including Gustave Doré, Monet, Rodin, Picasso, Kandinsky and Niki de Saint-Phalle. The tour, designed to be accessible to all, creates a dialogue between modern and contemporary art and is regularly enriched by three to four exhibitions per year. The building also houses an auditorium, the museums' library, a bookstore-shop and a restaurant complementing the visit.
