The Strasbourg Historical Museum, founded in 1920 and completely renovated in 2013, is housed in a historic building dating from 1587-1588, the former butcheries. It presents nine centuries of the city's history, from the Middle Ages to the creation of European institutions, through approximately 1700 works and interactive and digital displays. The collection notably includes the relief map of 1727 commissioned by Louis XV, as well as various testimonies of Strasbourg life. It functions as an urban and civic museum, enriched by regular programming of guided tours and events.
