Musée
Mulhouse · Haut-Rhin · Grand Est

The Mineralogical Museum of the Industrial Society of Mulhouse has been housed since 1966 within the National School of Chemistry of Mulhouse. Listed as a historical monument, it presents a collection of minerals from varied sources, obtained from multiple origins: post-war recoveries, acquisitions between 1960 and 1966, donations and exchanges with other institutions. The displayed specimens, of highly variable sizes, come mainly from Brazil, Madagascar, South Africa, the United States, Romania, Switzerland and Germany, while local minerals remain poorly represented. The establishment also preserves one of the world's most important collections of historical dyes, comprising approximately 4,600 bottles dating mainly from the 19th century, reflecting the school's initial specialization in training engineers for Mulhouse's textile industry.
