Ligne Maginot - Fort Casso

Rohrbach-lès-Bitche · Moselle · Grand Est

Fort Casso is an infantry fortification of the Maginot Line, located in Rohrbach-lès-Bitche in Moselle, less than 10 km from the German border. This historical and military site offers an underground tour 25 meters deep, allowing visitors to discover the fortress installations: power plant, kitchen, barracks, telephone exchange and combat block. The fortification, equipped with three defensive blocks, played a strategic role on the Rohrbach plateau during the fighting in June 1940. The visit includes an interactive demonstration of the deployment of a 135-ton turret. The site is managed by an association and provides documentary resources on the history of the Maginot Line and the battles that took place there.
