Installed since 1990 in the Capitole building in Biesheim, the Gallo-Roman museum is a site museum dedicated to the remains of a vast ancient settlement from the 1st to 5th century of our era. The collections presented, resulting from archaeological excavations conducted in partnership with the universities of Freiburg and Basel, bear witness to the military occupation, civil life and religious practices of the ancient site of Oedenbourg. The museum's exhibition is organized around four thematic spaces covering military equipment, funeral rites, religion and daily life. The museum notably preserves remarkable objects such as an intaglio engraved with the effigy of Emperor Commodus and a rare silver ingot, as well as a diversity of artifacts illustrating the Romanization of the region.
