Musée
Lourdes · Hautes-Pyrénées · Occitanie

The Museum of Petit Lourdes, located in Lourdes in the Hautes-Pyrénées, is a museum dedicated to the history of Bernadette Soubirous and the apparitions of 1858. The museum presents a reconstruction in actual masonry of the village of Lourdes in the nineteenth century, created on a 1/30th scale, featuring notably the Saint-Pierre church, the Grotto of Massabielle and a representation of the Basilica. This meticulous reconstruction was created by artist Georges Simonin, who devoted twenty-five years of work to it. Installed in an open-air garden of one thousand square meters, the museum offers an audio-guided tour available in eight languages, retracing Bernadette's life from her birth to her departure for Nevers. Petit Lourdes, open since 1954, celebrates its seventieth anniversary and remains a major heritage attraction of the Lourdes pilgrimage.
