The Natzweiler-Struthof concentration camp memorial, located in Natzwiller in Alsace, is a major site of national remembrance dedicated to the history of the camp opened in 1941 by the Nazis at the location known as "le Struthof". The site comprises the original camp, a memorial and necropolis, as well as the European Centre of the Deported Resister which offers documentary resources and testimonies. An institution with a strong educational mission, the memorial welcomes nearly one hundred thousand schoolchildren each year and offers guided tours, workshops and educational tools adapted to different audiences. The collections include archives, objects and multimedia resources related to deportation and resistance. The site encourages active transmission of memory through traveling exhibitions, lectures and cultural events.
