The Museum of Natural History in La Rochelle, completely renovated in 2007, is located in the heart of the city. It houses multidisciplinary collections covering archaeology, ethnology, botany, zoology, mineralogy, paleontology as well as a documentary collection. The museum offers a perspective on the coastline and marshes of Charente-Maritime, combining the exploration of the territory in its natural and cultural dimensions with accounts of naturalists' expeditions. Situated at the intersection of here and elsewhere, it also offers regular activities, guided tours and has shared spaces including a scientific library, an auditorium and a botanical garden.
