Day 1
Housed in a former riverside brewery, the Musée de la Bande Dessinée holds over twelve thousand original comic pages and traces two centuries of the ninth art — the town hosts Europe's largest comics festival every January.
Day 2
The Musée du Papier traces the history of the paper mills that sustained the Vallée des Eaux Claires from the 16th century onward, before a walk along the ramparts of the upper town, overlooking the Charente below.
Day 3
Onward to the coast: La Rochelle's Maritime Museum is explored aboard real vessels moored in the harbour, including a weather frigate, followed by the Natural History Museum and its collections brought back by La Rochelle navigators since the 18th century.
