Musée Mémoires 39-45

Plougonvelin · Finistère · Bretagne

The Mémoires 39-45 Museum is a war museum housed in a former German command blockhouse located in Plougonvelin, in Finistère, near Pointe Saint-Mathieu. The museum spans five floors and offers a museography based on testimonies and anecdotes from combatants, civilians, and families who experienced World War II in Brittany, enriched by thousands of objects, documents, and photographs. The tour successively covers daily life on the Atlantic Wall, the history of the war in Brittany through thematic rooms, and offers a panoramic view of the entrance to the Brest roadstead from the kiosks and roof of the building. The museum also includes outdoor elements and immersive installations, notably a bombing simulation. The collection was assembled over more than twenty years by its founders, who are passionate about local history.
