The Huningue Historical and Military Museum is housed in a 17th-century civilian building, formerly the residence of the fortress's superintendent and the war commissioner. Its collections trace the history of the Vauban fortress, the industrial history of the city, and the two world wars, enriched since 1951 by acquisitions and donations. The museum brings together objects related to the military life of the former fortress, particularly regarding Huningue's defensive role during the sieges of 1796, 1814, and 1815. Its themes encompass modern archaeology, military collections, local and regional history, as well as ethnology. The museum is open on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of each month from 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM, with an annual closure in August.
