The Raymond Poincaré departmental museum occupies the ground floor of the former summer residence of President Raymond Poincaré in Sampigny, in the Meuse. Located in a Neo-Louis XIII mansion built between 1905 and 1913, the museum traces the career of this illustrious native of the Meuse region, lawyer, member of the Académie française, and President of the Republic during the Great War. The collections include presidential gifts, photographs, personal objects, sound archives and audiovisual documents, as well as an important collection of newspapers, posters and postcards testifying to political caricature of the first half of the 20th century. The site includes a terraced garden combining Italian-style parterres, rockeries and plants from the Nancy school, overlooking the Meuse valley. The museum regularly offers concerts, performances, workshops and family activities, as well as educational workshops for school groups.
