The Hop House is a museum located in the attics of a former oil mill in Rivière-les-Fosses, in Haute-Marne. It is dedicated to the history and culture of hops, a plant emblematic of the region that once enjoyed a reputation for quality in Burgundy. The collections present the different phases of the annual production cycle: spring pruning, cultivation on poles, treatments, harvesting, drying and commercialization. The museum offers a sensory approach to the plant through its appearance, its properties and its characteristic smell, as well as testimonies from hop growers and their wives recounting their daily lives and practices. Visits are organized from June to mid-October, with groups welcomed by reservation.
