The Franco-German Museum of Hartmannswillerkopf is a history museum and memorial dedicated to the battles of the First World War. Located in Wattwiller in the Haut-Rhin, it stands on the Hartmannswillerkopf, called Vieil Armand by the wartime press, a rocky outcrop of 956 meters overlooking the Alsatian plain. This site was the scene of fierce fighting between French and German armies, notably in 1915, for control of a major strategic position. Today a place of memory and nature, the museum offers guided tours, educational workshops and temporary exhibitions, notably on the battles of the Vosges massif. The establishment is characterized by its cross-border approach, presenting the Hartmannswillerkopf as a landmark of Franco-German relations and shared historical transmission.
