Musée
Brienne-le-Château · Aube · Grand Est

The Napoleon I Museum is housed in the former royal military school of Brienne-le-Château, a building classified as a Historic Monument since 1933. Created in 1969 around collections gathered since 1930, it was completely renovated and reopened in January 2018 with modernized scenography. The museum covers three major periods in the life of Napoleon Bonaparte: his schooling at the royal military school (1779-1784), his visit as Emperor in 1805, and the 1814 Campaign of France. The collections and themes also include the Restoration period, the Napoleonic legend, and the Treasure of the churches of the Parc de la forêt d'Orient. Located in Champagne-Ardenne, in a rural area, it offers an overview of the close ties linking Brienne-le-Château to the imperial epic.
