The Écomusée de la Forêt d'Orient, located in Brienne-la-Vieille in Aube, is dedicated to the preservation and transmission of regional rural heritage. The museum offers an ethnographic approach to peasant life, displaying folk art objects, traditional trades, and reconstructions of old interiors and workspaces, organized across two sites: the Maison des Jours et des Champs and the Boutique. The first site notably includes an agricultural gallery, a barn of old trades, a room of vintage tractors, and various reconstructions (butcher shop, barber shop, dwelling, school, bistro, laundry), while the second presents functional workshops of blacksmithing, wheelwrighting, and farrier work from the early twentieth century. The Écomusée also hosts temporary exhibitions and offers both self-guided and guided tours, adapted for families as well as groups. Accessible and equipped for visitors with reduced mobility, it serves as a place for reflection on the unique richness of the regional heritage of the Grands Lacs de Champagne region.
