Musée
Les Islettes · Meuse · Grand Est
The Argonne Glass Museum, located in Les Islettes in the Meuse department, is an exhibition space dedicated to the history of Argonne glassworks, created and run since 2009 by the Association of Friends of Argonne Glass. The museum offers a renewed exhibition each year, based on the collections and work of François Jannin, which traces the evolution of glassmaking techniques from Gallo-Roman glass to industrialization. Four rooms welcome visitors and illustrate the different periods of local production: medieval glassware, forest glasswork, and innovative jars of modern times. During the summer, demonstrations by passionate glassmakers take place in the museum courtyard. The association also offers guided tours for groups and schools by appointment, thus inscribing the museum in an approach to heritage preservation.
