Musée
Sainte-Menehould · Marne · Grand Est

The Museum of Art and History of Sainte-Ménehould, located in the Hôtel de la Subdélégation de Champagne built in 1726, is a museum in a rural area. Its collections bear witness to the history of the city and its surroundings, from its role as a medieval stronghold defending the kingdom's borders to its development in the 18th century, notably marked by the historic event of the recognition of Louis XVI during his flight to Varennes in 1791. The museum presents objects evoking life during this period as well as works of art and scientific instruments from the 17th and 18th centuries. These collections illustrate the intellectual ferment that preceded the French Revolution and the tastes of this period.
