The Museum of Earth and Ceramics is located in Rambervillers, in the Vosges, within the premises of a former 18th-century cavalry gendarmerie. Created in 1988 by the association Atelier Arts et Histoire, it presents collections of earthenware from the 18th and 19th centuries, flamed stoneware, tiles and ancient pottery from the manufactures and craftsmen of Rambervillers and the canton. The museum highlights the expertise of generations of local potters and earthenware makers, notably through Art Nouveau pieces by artists such as Jacques Grüber and Louis Majorelle. The collections also include a historic hospital pharmacy and archaeological artifacts. The establishment operates according to an associative model in which entrance fees are reinvested in the acquisition of local ceramics.
