Musée
Mirecourt · Vosges · Grand Est

The Museum of French String and Bow Making is located in Mirecourt, in the Vosges, in a region historically devoted to instrument making. It occupies a rural site and notably preserves an old lutherie workshop preserved in situ. Its collections include instruments, socio-technical and iconographic collections, as well as documents relating to instrument makers. The museum offers guided tours, practical workshops, concerts and meetings that highlight the gestures and transmission of lutherie and bow-making crafts. Its current exhibition, "The Making of Music. Departure Mirecourt," examines the process of instrumental creation from the choice of materials to the musician's hand.
