The Museum of Art and History of Granville has been housed since 1936 in the "Logis du Roi", a building listed as a historical monument in 1931, located in the Upper Town and overlooking the port and quays of the fortified city. A former residence of the commanding officer of the garrison, then a Town Hall during the Revolution, the building constitutes with the Œuvre Garden an architectural and historical ensemble integrated into the medieval walls. The establishment is currently closed to the public for renovation work and structural investigations. Although closed, the museum continues its scientific activities, notably the study of collections, welcoming researchers and loaning works, with public access by appointment at the Grain Hall. A Project House, opened since April 2022, presents the history of the Logis du Roi and the research conducted on the building and its collections.
