Fort de Dampierre is a fortified structure from the 19th century located approximately 12 kilometers northeast of Langres, in Haute-Marne. Built between 1875 and 1878, it constitutes the most advanced element of Langres's defensive system, designed according to the principles of Séré de Rivières. With an area of 52 hectares, it is the largest fort in this network, featuring a cavalier fort architecture and a triangular bastioned envelope. The fort was equipped with considerable means: barracks for 1,500 men, powder and ammunition magazines, an infirmary, and armament of 142 artillery pieces distributed across three levels. Today owned by the Ministry of Defence, the fort remains a significant testament to late 19th-century military architecture.
