The Fort de Bron is a history museum located in Bron, in the Lyon metropolitan area. It occupies a detached fort built after the Franco-Prussian War of 1870, designed to defend the city of Lyon according to the fortification system of General Séré de Rivières. The museum, managed by the Fort de Bron Association, presents the collections and historical structures of the fort, including the casemate-barracks, the powder magazine, the caponières and the moats. The exhibitions and activities address military life in the late 19th century, artillery, site archaeology and ecological heritage. The institution offers guided tours, lectures, temporary exhibitions and cultural events that make it a center for documentation and promotion of Lyon's fortifications.
