Ecomusée de Saint Nazaire

Saint-Nazaire · Loire-Atlantique · Pays de la Loire

The Écomusée of Saint-Nazaire traces the singular history of this port city located at the estuary of the Loire River in Loire-Atlantique. Its permanent collections document the rapid development of Saint-Nazaire around its port in the 19th and 20th centuries, particularly its major role in shipbuilding and aeronautical construction. The museum presents scale models, technical objects, archival photographs and films that illustrate the construction of nearly 170 ocean liners and the aeronautical adventure that began in 1923. A permanent exhibition is entirely devoted to this local industrial history. The museum offers self-guided visits and activities suited to families, including regular workshops and autonomous recreational tours.
