The Cabinet of Prints and Drawings is the collection of ancient graphic arts of the Strasbourg Museums, established at the end of the 19th century to complement the painting collections. It brings together drawings and engravings from the 15th century to the mid-19th century, originating primarily from Italian, Northern, and Germanic schools. Its collections also include ornamental engravings and drawings, silversmith drawings testifying to Strasbourg's craft tradition, as well as a substantial collection of popular imagery and lithographs published in Alsace in the 19th century. Due to the sensitivity of these works to light, consultation is available exclusively by appointment. From September 2025, the collections will be transferred to the Study and Conservation Center of the Strasbourg Museums, offering improved conservation conditions.
