Art & CultureMusée Sarret de Grozon d'Arbois
Arbois · Jura · Bourgogne-Franche-Comté
The Sarret de Grozon Museum is housed in a townhouse bequeathed to the city of Arbois in 1902 by the Sarret family, along with its furnishings and collections. The museum, opened in 1934, presents works of art spanning from the 17th to the 19th century, including paintings by Comté painters such as Courbet and Pointelin, as well as exceptional porcelain and silverware. The apartments retain their original interior decorations, reflecting the enlightened tastes of provincial aristocracy. The museum also displays pastel portraits of Arboisiens drawn by a teenage Louis Pasteur. It is part of the urban and cultural heritage of Arbois, in Bourgogne-Franche-Comté.
