Housed in a former college in Noyers, a village classified among the Most Beautiful Villages of France, this museum preserves collections of naive, raw, and popular arts spread over three floors and 1500 m² of exhibition space. Founded in 1881 by Jean-Étienne Miltiade Simmonet de Bresse de Préfontaine, it brings together eclectic ensembles: paintings by naive masters such as Bombois and Bauchant, contemporary art works, collections of ex-votos, lithographed metal boxes, as well as historical albums by Hokusai. The museum was notably enriched in 1987 by a donation from artist Jacques Yankel and also preserves collections of popular art from southern Europe, Asia, and Latin America. It ranks among the first painting museums in the Yonne.
