Musée Danicourt
Péronne · Somme · Hauts-de-France
The Alfred Danicourt Museum is a municipal museum housed on the upper floor of the town hall of Péronne since 1877. It brings together archaeological collections spanning from Prehistory to the Middle Ages, notably remarkable collections in numismatics, glyptics and goldsmithing. Its holdings include a unique collection of Gallic coins representing all known Gallic peoples, ancient jewelry and cut stones, Merovingian artifacts from local excavations, as well as an important collection of flint and tools from the Paleolithic to the Neolithic. The museum also has a fine arts section comprising paintings by local, national and international painters, a rich collection of engravings, prints and drawings, as well as an important photographic collection. These collections were preserved during both World Wars and constitute the legacy of founder Charles Alfred Danicourt (1837-1887).
