The Geology and Mineralogy Gallery, located in the Jardin des Plantes in Paris, is a scientific natural history museum specializing in the study of minerals, rocks, and meteorites. Built from 1833 onwards, it constitutes the first building originally designed as a museum and houses one of the oldest and most prestigious mineralogical collections in the world. The displayed collections include approximately twenty giant crystals at the center of the gallery, as well as Martian meteorites, gemstones, ornamental stones, and remarkable objects such as Louis XIV's blue diamond. The "Treasures of the Earth" exhibition is organized around eight thematic alcoves covering mineralogical identification, crystallography, the diversity of forms and colors, as well as the history of the Museum's collections since the Cabinet of Natural History of the 18th century. The building, a neoclassical structure 187 meters long adorned with two columned porticoes, is located along Haüy Avenue. The gallery is open Monday through Sunday, closed on Tuesdays, with access by Paris public transportation.
