The Scierie de la Hallière is a technical museum dedicated to the mechanization of wood sawing using hydraulic energy. Classified as a historic monument since 1978, it bears witness to the Vosges sawmills of the 19th and 20th centuries and exhibits a high-iron, a mechanical assembly that transforms the circular movement of a paddle wheel into the reciprocating motion of a vertical saw. Located in Celles-sur-Plaine on the banks of the Plaine river, in the former Principality of Salm, it is part of the industrial heritage of the Vosges valleys linked to wood-floating in Lorraine. The site, managed by the association Les Amis de la Hallière, has experienced two major fires (2001 and 2021) and remains currently inaccessible to visitors.
