The Nivernais Museum of Education, housed in the former Victor Hugo school in Nevers, is dedicated to preserving and promoting educational heritage. Built up over four decades by enthusiasts, it brings together significant collections: more than 17,500 catalogued works (mainly old school textbooks), a pedagogical film library of 1,200 16mm films, a reconstructed classroom (1900-1920), and varied historical educational materials. The museum, managed by the Association of Friends of the Nivernais Museum of Education, welcomes researchers by appointment and offers educational services to schools and colleges. It regularly organizes temporary exhibitions and has published the Nivernais Notebooks of Educational History since 1988.
