Musée « Mémoire d’Autrefois »

Ambronay · Ain · Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes

The "Mémoire d'Autrefois" museum is located in Ambronay, in Ain, in the heart of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. It presents local and regional heritage through a collection of approximately three thousand eight hundred objects dating from the early twentieth century. The collections illustrate traditional trades and know-how: tools of the clog maker, shoemaker, blacksmith, carpenter and fitter, as well as domestic utensils, antique toys and period clothing. Since 2018, the museum has been enriched with a section dedicated to agricultural machinery and tools related to field work and vine cultivation. In 2021, the mechanism of the Ambronay bell tower clock was restored and installed there, enriching the exhibition space of the site.
