Musée des Soieries Bonnet

Jujurieux · Ain · Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes

The Musée des Soieries Bonnet, located in Jujurieux in the Ain department, is housed in the former workshops of a textile manufacturing plant founded in Lyon in 1810 and established on the site in 1835. The museum preserves one of the most important collections of textile industry heritage at the international level, bringing together luxury fabrics, production tools, and archives documenting two centuries of manufacturing history. The collections bear witness to the historical ties between the Bonnet house and major haute couture houses, including Dior, Chanel, and Yves Saint-Laurent. The site, originally designed as a factory-boarding house, reflects a paternalistic organization characteristic of the 19th century, with a chapel, company store, and workers' housing. Visitors can explore the former weaving workshops, consult testimonies from former workers, and discover the various stages of creation of fabrics and fashion accessories.
