The Jacques Cartier Museum, located in the Manor of Limoëlou at Rothéneuf near Saint-Malo, is dedicated to the life and expeditions of the navigator Jacques Cartier (1491-1557), discoverer of Canada in 1534. The manor, restored from 1978 onwards and arranged to evoke daily life during the Renaissance, constitutes Cartier's only surviving built heritage in France. The visit, offered only as a guided tour, explores the themes of the discovery of the New World, navigation during the Age of Discovery, and daily life in the 16th century, through interior displays, reproductions of navigation instruments, and antique globes. The museum welcomes both individual visitors and school groups, with adapted educational workshops. A specialized bookstore completes the visit, offering works on Jacques Cartier, the Age of Discovery, Native Americans, and the history of Canada.
