The Ernest Cognacq Museum is an art and history museum located in Saint-Martin-de-Ré, in Charente-Maritime. It occupies an architectural complex composed of a fifteenth-century mansion, a contemporary wing, and French gardens. Its collections cover the history of the island of Ré from its first settlements to the present day, with thematic sections devoted to Vauban's fortifications, maritime history, ceramics and fine arts, as well as a section dedicated to the penal colony. The museum hosts temporary exhibitions, lectures, and educational activities for schools and families, benefiting from the Tourism and Disability label.
