Les Rousses · Jura · Bourgogne-Franche-Comté

The Museum of Skiing and Rousselande Tradition, created in 1986 by Roger Tinguely, is located in the basements of the gîte Le Grand Tétras in Les Rousses, in the High Chain of the Jura. It houses collections relating to the history and mountain life of the Jura region, notably an accumulation of skis dating from 1850 to the present day and bobsleds from 1895 to 1968, as well as surfboards, sledges and objects testifying to the old techniques of French ski manufacturing. The museum also presents stone furnishings, items related to agriculture and traditional Jura craftsmanship. Open daily at 6 p.m. for gîte residents and on Thursdays from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. for other visitors, it offers guided tours by reservation for groups of more than fifteen people. The visits, conducted by the founders or their team, last approximately one to one and a half hours.
