The Museum of Fine Arts and Lace of Alençon is housed in a former Jesuit college built in 1620. It is dedicated primarily to Alençon Point lace, a unique textile technique recognized worldwide and inscribed in UNESCO's intangible cultural heritage of humanity, and presents creations from contemporary workshops. The museum also houses varied fine arts collections and regularly enriches its acquisitions through deposits from the National Furniture collection. On a human scale, it offers a strong educational approach and welcomes diverse audiences, from school groups to individual visitors. The collections are partly accessible online and temporary exhibitions complement the programming.
