The Shell Cave is a paleontology museum located in Fleury-la-Rivière, in Marne. The site presents a collection of marine fossils from the Paris Basin, dating back approximately 45 million years, a period during which this region was covered by a tropical sea. The museum displays over 300 species of fossilized shells, particularly specimens from the Damery tuffeau, discovered in the underground chalky sands of the site. Beyond the presentation of collections, the establishment offers a participatory experience with workshops on excavation, extraction, restoration and study of fossils, allowing visitors to learn the methods of paleontological research. The museum shop offers the opportunity to purchase fossils, paleontologist tools, or jewelry created from fossilized shells.
