Hôtel Abbatial

Lunéville · Meurthe-et-Moselle · Grand Est

The Abbatial Hotel is a museum space located in Lunéville, in Meurthe-et-Moselle, installed in a renovated former rectory of 1,000 m² spread over two floors. The museum offers temporary exhibitions on the ground floor, devoted mainly to the 18th century and decorative arts, while the upper floor features a recreation of an 18th-century apartment belonging to the upper middle class or provincial aristocracy. Its originality lies in its participatory model: 90% of its collections come from donations, patronage, or loans from collectors, making it a living museum space with evolving decor. The venue, opened in its current configuration since 2019, defines itself as a decorative arts house rather than a traditional museum, emphasizing the intimate atmosphere of a period family residence.
