The Écomusée of the island of Groix is located on the island's port in a former fish canning factory. It offers visitors a discovery of the local heritage through collections, exhibitions, scale models, drawings and old photographs. The museum covers the history of the island from settlement to contemporary times, particularly its period when Groix was France's leading tuna fishing port, as well as island life, its traditions, housing, fishing and agriculture. The facility also features aquariums dedicated to the geology and local marine habitats. Free or guided visits are offered, complemented by rope-work workshops and sea outings during the summer season.
