The Montbéliard Castle Museum occupies a defensive fortress built in the 10th century on a rocky spur. Former seat of the Counts of Montbéliard from the 11th century, it became one of the residences of the Dukes of Württemberg in the 15th century, embodying four centuries of their dynasty until 1793. The museum's historical circuit offers a visit devoted to the Dukes of Württemberg, complemented by the Museum of Art and History housed in the Hôtel Beurnier-Rossel. The castle also contains natural sciences collections and regularly hosts thematic exhibitions as well as cultural events. Located in Bourgogne-Franche-Comté in the Doubs, the site constitutes a focal point of Montbéliard's heritage.
