Noirmoutier Castle, built at the end of the 12th century by Pierre V de la Garnache, has dominated the island of Noirmoutier for more than eight hundred years. Listed as a historical monument in 1994, it offers a museum tour across several floors combined with the discovery of the building's historic spaces. The City regularly organizes annual exhibitions, youth workshops and cultural events there. The site welcomes approximately 40,000 visitors each year and includes a courtyard freely accessible to the public. Restoration work on the ramparts, undertaken since 2020, continues the conservation of this major monument of Vendée's heritage.
