Bunker Du Phare

Lège-Cap-Ferret · Gironde · Nouvelle-Aquitaine

The Cap Ferret Lighthouse is a museum dedicated to maritime history and the heritage of the Arcachon Basin, housed within a lighthouse structure 57 meters tall, automated in 1944. The site offers an exhibition in six stages tracing the evolution of cartography, navigation methods, hydrography, and the functioning of the lighthouse itself. Visitors can access the summit after climbing 258 steps to enjoy a panoramic view of the peninsula. An interactive room invites discovery of the Arcachon Basin, while exhibition spaces highlight the architectural and technical history of the lighthouse as well as the stories of the keepers who maintained it. Located in Lège-Cap-Ferret in the Gironde department, this museum combines historical heritage and educational experience around local maritime identity.
