Musée
Montans · Tarn · Occitanie

The Archéosite of Montans is an archaeological center located in Tarn in the Occitanie region. It combines a museum and a conservation and study center, intended for the preservation and study of archaeological collections from the Gaillac-Graulhet urban area. The museum, organized according to a U-shaped plan reminiscent of Gallo-Roman villas, spans over 400 m² and presents intercommunal archaeological collections, with the most remarkable pieces displayed in a secure room. The adjacent park, covering more than 5,000 m², houses full-scale reconstructions of a Gallo-Roman potter's workshop and a terra sigillata kiln, as well as a Gallo-Roman house. The site offers educational and recreational programs including workshops, temporary exhibitions and historical reconstruction demonstrations.
