Scénomusée la Toinette et Julien

Murat-le-Quaire · Puy-de-Dôme · Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes

The Scénomusée la Toinette et Julien is a local history museum located in Murat-le-Quaire, at the foot of the Sancy massif in Auvergne. It offers immersive guided tours retracing rural Auvergnat life from the 19th century through two spaces: the House of Toinette and Julien's Barn. The collections and narratives on display document disappeared peasant skills, notably the techniques of transforming hemp into textiles by rural women, as well as the condition of women and social changes during the 19th century. The museum devotes particular attention to the memory of overlooked women and the material history of Auvergnat families. The site also offers temporary exhibitions and educational activities for families and groups.
