The Cassis Municipal Mediterranean Museum of Arts and Popular Traditions is housed in a former early 18th-century presbytery located on Place Baragnon in the heart of the village. It was founded in 1910 from a donation by two Marseille painters, Marius and Eugénie Guindon, who offered 47 canvases by Provençal masters. The permanent collections cover three areas: local archaeology (pottery, amphorae, jewelry, coins from the Neolithic to the early Middle Ages, enriched since 2010 by artifacts from underwater excavations), fine arts including notably the Guindon collection of paintings from the 19th and 20th centuries and a series of 46 portraits classified as Historic Monuments, and ethnography bringing together Provençal costumes, maritime tools and objects from daily life in Cassis. Throughout the year, the museum offers temporary exhibitions, guided tours and educational workshops.
