The Jeanne d'Aboville Museum is located in La Fère, in the Aisne department, in the Hauts-de-France region. It houses a collection of paintings assembled in the nineteenth century by Gabrielle-Uranie d'Héricourt de Valincourt, countess of the place, and bequeathed to her native town. The museum is distinguished by an important collection of primitive paintings from the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries, notably the only painting by Albrecht Dürer visible in the region, as well as a significant collection of works from the Dutch Golden Age and the Northern Renaissance. To these northern collections is added an Italian Renaissance section and a collection of French paintings from the eighteenth century. The museum also offers a department of local archaeology, including notably fossils of woolly mammoths and a statue of a Celtic gladiator.
