The Franco-Australian Museum of Villers-Bretonneux traces the shared history of France and Australia around the events of the First World War. In April 1918, Australian forces played a decisive role in stopping the German advance towards Amiens, thus establishing lasting ties between the Picardy town and Australia. After the war, Franco-Australian solidarity was realized through participation in the reconstruction of the devastated city, particularly its school. The museum presents this unique history of remembrance and friendship through four thematic sequences, illustrated by collections made up primarily of donations: personal items of soldiers, uniforms, letters, photographs and testimonies of this exceptional brotherhood.
