Musée de Cerdagne

The Museum of Cerdagne is located in an 18th century estate in Sainte-Léocadie, the former seat of the vicarage of Cerdagne. It preserves traces of the region's territorial history, notably marked by the Treaty of the Pyrenees of 1659 which divided Cerdagne between France and Spain. Through its permanent and temporary collections, the museum presents the different facets of Cerdagne: local history, popular traditions, and the evolution of the territory and its landscapes. The estate, designated as a Historic Monument in 1984 and 1997, preserves its high-altitude vegetable garden and offers guided tours, workshops and cultural events. Located in a rural area, the museum is part of an approach to regional history and agricultural heritage of the Catalan Pyrenees.
